How to Break Inner Vow Curses?

Last week we discussed that inner vows are curses. They are open doors to the devil and the reason why many live in bondage. Many people believe that once we come to Christ, we are free from all curses, and even though it is true that Christ paid for our freedom, that freedom is not automatic.

In Christ, we have forgiveness of sin, but before we are forgiven, we first must repent. Yes, in Christ, we are free from the curse of the law (Galatians 3:13), but the curses we place upon ourselves through inner vows are not part of the curse of the law. Therefore, we must break them before we can be free from them.

The question then is, how do we break inner vow curses? I am glad to tell you that the process is simple, but we must do it sincerely. First, we must repent before the Lord for allowing the offense to come into our hearts and for making the vow.

Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord. (Acts 3:19 NIV)

Second, we must forgive the person responsible for our inner vow. A curse cannot be broken if, in our hearts, we still hold resentment against that person or group of people.

If you forgive others when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you do not forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins. Matthew 6:14-15 (NIV)

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Romans 12:21 (NIV)

Third, we need to replace a curse with a blessing, and there is no better way to do that than to bless the people who hurt us.

Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing. (1 Peter 3:9 ESV)

Did you notice what Peter says? When we bless the people who hurt us, we obtain a blessing. I know it is not easy, but true freedom only comes when we release ourselves from something terrible and replace it with something good. We gain forgiveness when we repent. Faith comes when we let go of fear, and when we bless those who hurt us, we replace a curse with a blessing.

My friend, do not waste any more time. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you break any curse you attracted to your life through an inner vow and see how your life changes. Before you know it, your life will be showered with blessings.
